Background

The Michigan Legal Help website, www.MichiganLegalHelp.org, is a project of the Solutions on Self-Help Taskforce (SOSTF).  The SOSTF was created in April 2010 by (then) Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly to improve and coordinate resources for Michigan residents who need to represent themselves in simple legal matters.  <read more>

The Michigan Legal Help website and affiliated local self-help centers are part of the overall work of the Solutions on Self-Help Task Force to provide quality assistance for persons representing themselves in civil legal matters in Michigan. The Task Force is a statewide collaboration of judges, courts, lawyers, bar associations, funders, nonprofit legal aid agencies, legal self-help centers, libraries and many others. The Task Force was established by (then) Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly to coordinate and improve assistance to Michigan residents who need to represent themselves in simple legal matters.  The website, located at www.MichiganLegalHelp.org provides legal information, not advice, and is not a substitute for hiring a lawyer.  <read more>
